Nagpur:Reckless driving by bikers claimed the life of one of their friends and injured three others at Seva Sadan Square, Civil Lines on Thursday afternoon. Four friends were riding on two bikes when they collided and one of them fell on a road divider, causing his death on the spot. All four youths were without helmet. The deceased, identified as Punit Dubey (28), was a resident of Surendragarh.
His friends Rohit Mishra, Pradeep Mishra and Vijay Mishra suffered serious injuries. The injured are undergoing treatment at
Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH).
Dueby was a gym trainer by profession. Police said that Rohit was having some work at Itwari for which the four friends left home on two bikes. The incident took place while the youths were heading from Central Avenue to Gandhibagh.
“While on their way, their bikes’ handles collided with each other. Since the speed of the bikers was very high, the riders lost control over their bikes and skid badly. Dubey and Rohit were driving the bikes,” police said.
Dubey and Pradeep fell on the road divider side. Dubey’s head hit the median’s corner that caused head injuries while the other three fell on the road, sustaining serious injuries. Passers-by immediately alerted police control room who then informed Tehsil police station. Police inspector Santosh Khandekar and his team swung into action and rushed all the four to IGGMCH. Dubey was declared brought dead by doctors. Passers-by informed that all the four youths were driving rashly on the busy Central Avenue. The bikers, all without helmet, were zooming on the road. Police said that helmet could have saved Dubey from head injury.
